Shared in r/NewSkaters as motivation for new skaters, since many lines use beginner tricks that are reachable in the short term.

I don't remember exactly but I know it was over a year. Mind you, I had to learn them mostly from books i got from libraries. Most libraries had at least one book on skateboarding. trick tip DVDs and VHS's were harder to get a hold of because you could only find those at skate shops. Youtube wasn't a thing. Nobody I knew skated. You just didn't see people with boards. I couldn't ask anyone. Skateparks only existed in random warehouses in cheap sketchy areas. I learned how to skate on a Gundam Wing skateboard in 2001. I didn't know what a crappy skateboard was. Also I was doing 180s shuvs and boardslides before I could do a straight ollie. So yeah, It took forever to ollie, but i was doing other shit. I could fly off a 2 stair and not pop at all. lil wayne released 5mins of footy. been skating for 3 years, not a single fucking ollie. link [VIDEO]
