Why skaters like it
Cited in threads about modern skatepark design and skating in hot places. It shows what a new Team Pain built park in Charleston looks like when skated.
“I'm gonna disagree and say parks are much better now than ever before. I started skating in the 80s. Parks back then often had concrete like a patio- brushed. Like a cheese grater.”

I'm gonna disagree and say parks are much better now than ever before. I started skating in the 80s. Parks back then often had concrete like a patio- brushed. Like a cheese grater. The pool coping was rough and you could hang up on it (that's why we had lappers). The designs looked cool, but not all of them made sense. A lot of things were barely skateable. Then they all closed because the insurance became too high.
At night, lol. You just get used to it, sorta. Our big skate park is open until 10pm(it is staffed that's why it has hours). Very well lit and it is right on the water so a breeze. Also has a concession stand so you can have a burger and get some AC. You can see all the marsh land where the breeze comes from. Still, it doesn't really cool down at night here. Plus the concrete bowl sucks up the heat all day long and i
