kids called it "catching the board". Move fwd with it. The jerk your body needs to lunge fwd should counteract the board moving fwd. We used to pause the Rodney Mullen VHS tapes so much they would get all scratchy. We would argue about his technique... I swear he jump fwd, others disagreed. I never could do a stationary kickflip, so I guess I was wrong. [this video]
